OPTICAL SOUND EXPERIENCE is the graphic design practice of Benjamin Rodgers (he/they), a musician, cook, and designer based in Oakland, California.  

My graphic design practice is informed by my experience as a player and show organizer in the Bay Area's rich underground experimental music community, and by years spent digging through record store bins in pursuit of well-worn free jazz, progressive, and global psychedelic grooves.  I hold a BA in art history from UC Berkeley; my historical and theoretical grounding in the wide-ranging study of visual cultures and mark-making traditions also deeply influences my design work and illustration styles.
